Akamai, a technology company that provides a wide range of Web Services, is suspending its operations in Russia and Belarus due to the war in Ukraine. This is reported on the company's website.

"Akamai stands with the people of Ukraine. As the offensive against Ukraine continues, we are inspired by courageous citizens who defend their sovereignty," the message reads.
What sanctions does the company impose?

In particular, in response to the unleashed war against Ukraine, the technology company decided:

suspend all sales in Russia and Belarus;stop doing business with state-owned Russian and Belarusian clients;comply with all relevant sanctions;meet humanitarian needs through the Akamai Foundation, committing to constantly support the Ukrainian people.

The company has also made its products and cybersecurity experts available to Ukrainian government agencies to help protect Ukrainian citizens and gain access to the information needed to protect the country.

In addition, Akamai expressed gratitude to the employees, especially those located in Krakow and across Europe, who began to provide volunteer support to Ukrainian refugees and make financial donations.

About maintaining your presence in the Russian Federation network

At the same time, in accordance with its mission to ensure and protect life on the internet, the company made a conscious decision to maintain its online presence in Russia.

"This supports our global clients, including many of the world's largest news services, social media, and democratic government agencies. Because they are trying to provide vital and accurate information in all corners of the globe, including to Russian citizens," the technology company explained.

As you know, Akamai provides a wide range of web services, including protection against DDoS attacks, CDNs (application and site performance), cloud computing, and so on.

Earlier, the popular international company for the production of cloud solutions and virtualization VMware suspended all business operations in Russia and Belarus due to the unleashed war against Ukraine.

In turn, the Cloudflare web resource protection service will continue to provide services in Russia, despite Ukraine's call to stop working in the country. The company believes that the Russian government will only be happy if their services are blocked there.
