The Fiverr Freelancer exchange stops working in the Russian Federation. Before that, the company wanted to support both Russian and Ukrainian customers

On March 4, the exchange for freelancers Fiverr published a post about support for Ukraine. The company mentioned that it has an office in Kiev, and told what steps it is taking to support our citizens.

For example, Ukrainians can immediately withdraw funds earned on Fiverr, and the company launches a special platform for Ukrainian freelancers. The announcement also included financial support to compensate for potentially lost transactions.

At the same time, Fiverr sent other letters to its Russian clients. We were sent a screenshot of such an email from an anonymous but reliable source.

The text states that "the war in Ukraine has brought fear and uncertainty on both sides of the border." Fiverr writes that it is trying to understand whether the sanctions will affect the community, and in the meantime, users from the Russian Federation will be able, like Ukrainians, to receive early payments. This will allow you to withdraw money immediately, and not wait 13 days as usual. The company also promised to keep in touch with the Russian community.

On March 9, Fiverr announced that it was still suspending operations in the Russian market. Users from the Russian Federation will not be able to register new accounts or use already created accounts to buy or sell on the platform. But they will be able to withdraw the money received on Fiverr.

Another popular exchange for freelancers, Upwork, has also stopped working in Russia and Belarus. Now they block the ability for users from these countries to create new accounts, enter into new contracts and be visible in search results. The service will be completely closed until May 1.
