Avast will not work in Russia and Belarus. The company said that it refuses to make money from the war

Avast has blocked its products for users from Russia and Belarus. All sales and marketing operations in these countries have also been stopped. The company noted that it respects digital freedom and the right to a secure internet, but condemns Russia's aggression and refuses to make money from the war.

"We consider this aggression of Russia against Ukraine terrible, when the lives and livelihoods of innocent people are in great danger, and all freedoms are under attack," Avast noted.

The company writes that its services have been operating in Russia for almost 20 years, so this decision was not frivolous. According to her, Avast products only from sales to the Russian government give $2.5 million in taxes in the region annually. However, Avast does not want to be a part of what the Russian Federation does, so it will not sell its products there.

But Ukrainians who have a paid version of Avast will be able to extend their licenses for free. Owners of free (freemium) products will be able to switch to a premium subscription for free.

The company added that it has employees both in Ukraine and in Russia, and continues to support them and pay their salaries in full. Avast also donated 800 thousand dollars for humanitarian aid.
