Salesforce has stopped working with clients in Russia. Slack already blocks Russian accounts (UPD)

On March 7, the American corporation Salesforce announced the termination of cooperation with customers in Russia due to its military invasion of Ukraine. On March 15, it also became known that its Slack division began blocking user workspaces in the Russian Federation. We tell you the details of the sanctions policy of these companies.

Salesforce Statement
"We are heartbroken by the violence and loss of life due to the invasion of Ukraine. We stand in solidarity with the Ukrainian people and hope for a reasonable path to peace," the company said in a statement.

At the same time, they stressed that they do not yet have offices or employees in Ukraine, but they support employees who have close people here.

"Salesforce and our employees donate an initial початкові 2 million to non-profit aid organizations that provide assistance to people in Ukraine and refugees. And we are accelerating our work to overcome the humanitarian crisis," the corporation said.

They also added that they do not have a material business in Russia. At the same time, through resellers and other channels, the company cooperated with a small number of Russian clients, and now it has begun to withdraw from these relations.

Blocking Russian Slack users

In turn, the Slack Messenger began to block access to some customers in Russia, as it seeks to comply with international sanctions and the policy of the parent company Salesforce.

Slack is known to be a source of internal communications in many companies and organizations and often contains data and messages that are not stored in any other format.

Now several organizations in the Russian Federation have reported that their account is completely blocked without any warning, which makes it impossible to download any data. This is mostly the case with organizations that are subject to direct sanctions. The terms of such sanctions require an immediate end without warning.

"Slack is required to take steps to comply with sanctions in the United States and other countries where we operate, including, in some circumstances, suspending accounts without prior notice, as required by law," the company told Axios.

Instead, it is noted that Slack does not delete data, although companies that are subject to sanctions will not be able to access their data, at least until such sanctions are lifted.

UPD. Donbass was also affected

Meanwhile, users from Donbass report that Slack plans to block their workspaces as well. In particular, such cases were recorded in Mariupol and Kramatorsk, Donetsk region.

Users also claim that these sanctions affected the entire territory of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
