Netflix in Russia has removed its app from the App Store and Google Play

In Russia, the American streaming service Netflix removed its program from the App Store and Google Play. Now, when you enter the name of the service in the search bar in both platforms, the program is not displayed as it was before, Kommersant reports.

Back on March 6, Netflix announced the suspension of operations in Russia due to the war in Ukraine. The company also stopped working on Russian original projects.

Netflix is known to be a newcomer to Russia. It launched its service in 2016 and has a relatively small presence, approximately 1 million subscribers. The streamer operates as a joint venture with the Russian national media group. In total, Netflix has 222 million subscribers worldwide.

Almost 7,000 apps have already been removed from the Russian App Store

Meanwhile, the American Resource TechCrunch, citing the results of research by Sensor Tower, reported that since February 24, 2022, 6982 applications for iPhone and iPad have been removed from the Russian section of the App Store.

In particular, the Coca-Cola beverage manufacturer, clothing brand H&M, as well as the NFL, NBA, WWE sports associations, Eurosport channels, mobile game developers also joined their programs, including Zynga, Supercell, Take-Two (Rockstar Games) and many others.

Recall that the American corporation Salesforce on March 7 announced the termination of cooperation with customers in Russia due to its military invasion of Ukraine. On March 15, it also became known that its Slack division began blocking user workspaces in the Russian Federation.
