WiX (mistakenly) blocked the website of the Come Back Alive Foundation due to a complaint from Roskomnadzor. UPD added clarification from the company

The Israeli company WiX blocked the website of the Ukrainian charity foundation "come back alive" due to a complaint from the Russian Roskomnadzor. This was reported on the charity foundation's Twitter page.

In particular, representatives of the foundation posted a screenshot of a message that they received from WiX immediately after blocking.

It noted that the company received a complaint from Roskomnadzor about content on the site that allegedly violates the law. In this regard, the company blocked the site and added that it cannot be restored.

However, after about half an hour, the "come back alive" site was unblocked.

"Back and alive Foundation website. Thank you all for your help," the Charity Foundation wrote on its microblog.

Meanwhile, in the comments below this post, Wix representatives apologize for the unfortunate incident.

"Personally, as a WiX employee, I apologize for this zashkvar — it burned the entire Ukrainian office. I personally apply internal pressure to understand how and why this happened," wrote Denis Dovgan, who clarified that he does not express the official position of the company.
Company comment (update from 21.04)

The DOU editorial board received an official comment from Wix. The author is Natalia Zaslavskaya, Product Manager at the company. Natalia was directly involved in working on the website "come back alive".

Hi, I'm Natalia and I've been with Wix for 10 years. But I am also Ukrainian, so I feel that it is important for me to comment on this situation.

When the full-scale war broke out, we received a request from the Come Back Alive Foundation and helped them create a new website. And by launching our own campaign in support of Ukraine "Wix supports Ukraine", we invited millions of our users to place banners in support of Ukraine on our websites, where there was also a link to this page of the "Come Back Alive"Foundation.

On Friday, April 15, the Wix-created website of the Come Back Alive Foundation was blocked. I thought it must be some kind of mistake.

Even though the site was restored in 15 minutes, it was very important for me and the company to find out exactly what happened. The most important thing for us was to understand what led to this, and what problems in our internal processes caused this situation.

The reason turned out to be very simple, although unpleasant: the site was blocked due to an outdated internal protocol. For years, Wix blocked sites after requests for removal from government regulators (including Roskomnadzor). Among the content we were asked to remove were sites related to phishing, prostitution, pornography, etc. Of course, in the current situation, requests received from the RCN, as a body of the aggressor state, should have been thoroughly checked, the internal protocol was updated much earlier, but this did not happen. An unfortunate and not logical mistake, but nothing more.

At the moment, we have reviewed the internal protocol and are taking active actions to fix the error:

We went back and looked at all the sites that we had blocked in the last few months and made sure that there were no more similar errors. We have created a special committee, which includes team members from Ukraine, to process requests to block websites from Ukraine. We will continue to track all sites that are affiliated with or support the war against Ukraine and are platforms for enemy propaganda. If you see a site on our platform that we might have missed, please send an email to [email protected]

From now on, Wix will act carefully and adhere to the updated internal protocol in accordance with its policies and values.

And I just want to remind you that our CEO said earlier that Wix does not sell or will not sell anything in Russia.

Glory To Ukraine! 🇺🇦

Recall that on February 24, 2022, Patreon without any warnings deleted the page of the "Come Back Alive" Foundation, along with which more than.250 thousand was blocked.
