"Why is this content blocked if it is true?": The Ministry of digital development asked Meta to relax requirements for Ukraine
The Ministry of digital transformation has asked Meta to weaken the moderation of content about Russia's war against Ukraine. Mikhail Fedorov told RBC-Ukraine about this.
"I talked to Meta's top management and asked them to adapt the corporation's social media policy towards Ukraine. So that their analysts and specialists analyze the types of content and its formats that Ukrainians now use to convey the truth, and their accounts are not blocked," he said.
According to Fedorov, social networks should not strictly restrict Ukrainians if they cover the consequences of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
"I explained to them: if people die in our country, Rockets are launched at home and we post it, then this is content that should be distributed. Because this horror is happening on our streets. Why is this content blocked if it is true? I asked the green corridor so that we can quickly apply for unblocking our opinion leaders and citizen accounts that talk about what is happening here. If Russia spreads fakes, then we are just telling the truth. I think that there will be such a decision. We are constantly communicating 24/7 and these issues are gradually being resolved, there are fewer blockages and strikes and they can be quickly removed," Fedorov added.
