Ukrainian MobiDev has opened an office in Lodz, Poland. Who is hired there

Ukrainian IT company MobiDev has opened its first office abroad — in the Polish city of Lodz. Now there are more than 30 specialists who were forced to leave Ukraine because of the war. By the end of 2022, the number of specialists in the Polish office should double, the company told DOU.

On integration into Europe

It is known that the IT company intended to open its first foreign office in the second half of 2022, but military operations accelerated the implementation of this plan.

The opening of the new office, located in the central part of Lodz, took place on March 18. At the same time, HR and Office Supply teams helped employees who move to Poland adapt to a new place and find housing. The company provided financial assistance for individual requests.

"Now all those who are outside of Ukraine continue to work as Ukrainian sole proprietors. Firstly, it is still possible, and, secondly, very few people have finally decided what will happen abroad in the future," MobiDev told us.

They added that now their lawyers advise specialists, study foreign markets and types of contracts in order to determine the most acceptable one.

The IT company also announced that the number of specialists in the Polish office should double by the end of the year. Now the recruitment team actively hires candidates from Poland and those who plan to relocate to remote and on-site positions.

In particular, they offer to join projects in the areas of Data Science, AI, Flutter, iOS, Ruby, etc. Overall, the company has global plans to expand in Europe.

About development plans in Ukraine

Before the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, MobiDev had three engineering centers: in Kharkiv, Mykolaiv and Chernivtsi. At the same time, military operations forced the company to leave only one main development office within the country — in Chernivtsi.

In the meantime, the pace of hiring in Ukraine is gaining momentum. Since the beginning of the year, the company has grown by 10% and does not plan to stop.

"Today, the vast majority of the team remains in the country and continues to actively support the economic front. The company also has those who defend the country in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the TRO," the IT company stressed.

At the same time, they assured that they fully control the state of their offices in Kharkiv and Mykolaiv — their infrastructure was not significantly damaged.

Earlier it was reported that the Ukrainian office of the IT company Luxoft is considering options for issuing digital nomad visas (remote employee visa-ed.) for its employees relocated abroad.
