Currency exchangers want to oblige to pay an advance on income tax
For currency exchangers, they want to introduce a fixed advance payment on income tax in the amount of three minimum wages per month. The relevant bill was initiated by the NBU, and the head of the committee on finance, tax and customs policy Daniil Hetmantsev registered it.
If the bill is passed, exchangers will pay UAH 19,500 in taxes in advance every month. According to Getmantsev's calculations, revenues will amount to about a billion hryvnias a year.
The chairman of the relevant committee added: There are about 4 thousand exchange points operating in Ukraine. In 2021, they paid UAH 7 million in income taxes.
"Budget revenues from one exchange office amounted to about UAH 1,700 per year. This means that a significant part of the money in the exchangers has passed by the Army, pensioners and displaced persons in the pockets of the owners of the exchangers. Currency exchange has always been considered one of the most profitable businesses, especially in times of crisis associated with objective or artificial fluctuations in the hryvnia exchange rate," says Hetmantsev.
The proposed innovations do not apply to banking institutions.
