Ukrainian driver's license and registration certificate will be available in the Polish mObywatel app
Ukraine and Poland have agreed on joint sharing of electronic documents between the Diya and mObywatel applications. Now we are talking about a driver's license and a technical passport. In the future — an electronic passport of Ukrainians.
Main thing on August 22, the minister of digital transformation Mikhail Fedorov presented a new service — the ability to add a driver's license and registration certificate for a car from the Ukrainian "Diya" to the Polish mObywatel app.The functionality is promised to be finalized in a few months.Sharing only takes a few clicks, says Fedorov. After that, documents in mObywatel can be presented to the Polish authorities, police, etc. DetailsNow, according to the state secretary for digitalization of Poland and the Government Commissioner for cybersecurity Janusz Czeszynski, a prototype of the development is ready. However, it is still necessary to "solve certain bureaucratic issues", and the Ukrainian side — to finish the functionality. Therefore, the innovation should be fully operational by the end of the year.
This is the first case of sharing e-documents in the history of the EU. Especially considering that Ukraine now has only the status of a candidate for EU membership.
"mObywatel is an application that every official in Poland uses and understands. This is important, because if we want to [introduce Document Exchange] quickly, we need to work in the ecosystem that our government agencies, the police, etc.understand," Tseshinsky explained.
Tseshinsky added that the data from the Ukrainian "action" that mObywatel receives is stored only within the application on the user's device. According to him, "this is the best way to protect your data."
According to Fedorov, Ukraine wants to fully transfer to online and get a new driver's license. When this happens, the updated document can also be added online to the Polish mObywatel.
The Ministry of digital transformation is also working to ensure that Polish electronic documents are recognized in Ukraine as well as Ukrainian ones in Poland.
We plan to add electronic passports of Ukrainians to the Polish app. However, this issue is much more complicated than sharing a driver's license, Tseshinsky notes. To legalize the electronic passport of Ukrainians, you need the consent of all EU member states. Therefore, this issue will be dealt with next year. Now an electronic residence permit in Poland is available for Ukrainians, which allows them to cross borders.
