Artificial intelligence LaMDA from Google can now be tested (yes, it was in it that the company's engineer saw consciousness)

Lamda artificial intelligence launched in beta. Users can now test the technology in Google'S AI Test Kitchen app. Earlier, Google engineer Blake Lemoine said that the AI system of LaMDA chatbots shows signs of consciousness, and he was fired from the company.

Google's LaMDA artificial intelligence has been opened up for external testing. Now those who want to learn more about its capabilities must register in AI Test Kitchen — this way users get the necessary access from the company. Now testing is available within the United States and for Android users, but later they promise to expand it.

Three options are available today.

"The first imagine it demo lets you name a place and offers ways to explore your imagination. The second option, List It, lets you share a goal or topic, and LaMDA breaks it down into a list of useful subtasks. And in the talk about it Demo (Dogs Edition), you can have fun with an open conversation about dogs and only about dogs. The latter option explores LaMDA's ability to stick to the topic, even if you try to deviate from it," the company notes.

Google says it has been testing the bot for more than a year, including to search for potentially harmful or false answers. During this process, several "harmful but inconspicuous results"were found. In some cases, Google emphasizes, LaMDA can cause "toxic reactions based on biases in its training data." Accordingly, AI can generate stereotypical responses based on gender or cultural background.

LaMDA (Language Model for Dialogue Applications) is a system for creating chatbots with artificial intelligence from Google. Its task is to imitate language patterns by learning vocabulary on the internet.

In June, Google engineer Blake Lemoine said LaMDA was showing signs of consciousness. He has been working on it since 2021. However, Google explained that Lemoine's thoughts were"completely unfounded." In the end, the specialist was fired. DOU told us more about this here.
