Amazon has set up a humanitarian aid Center for Ukrainian refugees in Slovakia

The American company Amazon has created a large Center for humanitarian assistance to Ukrainian refugees in Slovakia. It was equipped on the basis of the former warehouse premises of the corporation with a size of 5000 square meters. m, which were previously used for customer service, the press service of the company reports.

It is known that this center was launched in less than 10 days.

Features of the humanitarian aid center
"This is the largest such hub ever built by Amazon, and it works alongside the company's broader infrastructure, innovative technologies, and global logistics network to deliver mission-critical supplies to front — line organizations as quickly and efficiently as possible," the company said in a statement.

According to the company, the Amazon delivery network across Europe now prepares and delivers to this center more than 4 million units of important goods donated by both the corporation and its customers, including shelter materials, hygiene items, blankets and clothing.

After receiving information about the needs of displaced people, Amazon teams evaluate which items need to be donated directly and find them, purchase any missing items, and then combine, pack, and send them to charities.

How support logistics works

The Amazon Transportation Services team delivers all collected goods to the new center in Slovakia. After that, the donated goods are distributed among the refugees in partnership with charitable organizations, in particular Save The Children and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

At the same time, it is assumed that the strategic location of the Slovak humanitarian aid center will significantly accelerate the movement of humanitarian aid throughout Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Romania, Moldova and the Czech Republic.

Now the company offers everyone to provide support to Ukrainian refugees. In particular, customers in Europe can make their donations to support these efforts through special wish lists that are available in Amazon stores in Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK.

Recall that with the beginning of Russia's war against Ukraine, Amazon introduced new restrictions on its services for users from the Russian Federation and Belarus. Now they will not be able to get retail products from Amazon and become new sellers on this platform. Meanwhile, AWS cloud services will not register new customers in these countries.

The company also recalled that it does not have data centers, offices or infrastructure in Russia. In addition, Amazon has long adhered to the rule "do not do business with the Russian government."

In addition, the Corporation transferred 5 5 million to help victims of the war. 10 thousand employees also donated their funds, and "tens of thousands of customers" made transfers to support Ukraine through Amazon pages. These funds will go to Save the Children and the Red Cross Society.
