In Lviv, the number of IT specialists has tripled due to the war. Transcarpathia is already creating a large IT cluster

The number of IT specialists in the western regions of Ukraine has at least tripled since the beginning of the Russian military invasion. This was stated by Stepan Veselovsky, CEO of the Lviv IT cluster, during a briefing at the media center "Ukraine".

What is the situation in the Lviv IT market

In particular, he said that in Lviv, from 30 thousand people who were before the war, the number of technical specialists increased to about 100 thousand. In turn, instead of 1000 IT industry specialists, 20 thousand people are already working in Transcarpathia.

Veselovsky said that most of the participants in the Ukrainian IT market not only successfully relocated their companies from the regions where the fighting continues to the western regions, but also almost completely restored pre-war productivity.

According to him, even the number of new contracts that companies conclude, Despite all the difficulties, is growing. Due to the relocation, temporary new hubs were also opened in the west of the country.

"After the victory, we will have a change in the landscape of technology hubs. Transcarpathia may become the next technohab. The hub in the Frankov region will also be strengthened," the head of the Lviv IT cluster is convinced.
About creating the Transcarpathian IT cluster

Meanwhile, the head of the Transcarpathian regional state administration Viktor Nikita announced the creation of a new national-level IT cluster in Transcarpathia.

"We are looking for ways to cooperate with local representatives of the IT sector and those who want to move their companies from other parts of Ukraine. To implement our new ambitious project in the region, we are ready to create favorable conditions for the introduction of a whole cluster of modern information technologies," he said.

At the same time, the head of the region assured that the region knows how to do this, because they have the necessary experience, base and team for rapid integration of the cluster in Transcarpathia.

In addition, Nikita invited all those involved in the IT sector to a personal meeting in the session hall of the main administrative building in Uzhgorod on March 31 at 16:00.

"Any of your ideas and suggestions are critical for us. Every detail and opinion will be taken into account and will help us implement this project," he concluded.
