Wargaming starts closing business in Russia and Belarus
The company Wargaming, which develops the game World of Tanks, decided not to own or operate a business in Russia and Belarus.
It transfers its gaming business in Russia and Belarus to the local management of the Russian Lesta Studio, which is no longer affiliated with Wargaming. The decision came into force on March 31. Wargaming adds that the company will not profit from this process either now or in the future, but on the contrary — expects significant losses.
"Despite the scale of this decision, we as a company are confident in the future of our business and will continue to provide our players with high — quality games," Wargaming noted.
During the transition period, the company's products will remain available in Russia and Belarus and will be operated by the new owner. The company does not specify when exactly the transition ended, but notes that it will comply with all laws and take care of the safety and support of employees.
Wargaming has also begun the process of gradually closing its studio in Minsk. The company provides compensation and support to those employees affected by this decision to the maximum possible extent. By transferring the business to Lesta Studio, the company will not have offices in Russia.
Earlier, the Kiev division of Wargaming allocated 30 million hryvnias to the Red Cross Society of Ukraine.
