Airbnb stops operations in Russia and Belarus: new bookings and payments are not possible

The International Housing search platform AirBnB has stopped operating in Russia and Belarus since April 4, 2022. This means that it is no longer possible to make new reservations in these countries, and guests from both countries will no longer be able to make new reservations anywhere in the world, the company said.

At the same time, reservations made prior to the publication of this announcement will remain unchanged.

"We are monitoring the situation and will provide further clarification when we receive additional information," the company said.
How will this affect users

According to the report, ads in Russia and Belarus will no longer have free dates in the calendar, and hosts will not be able to accept new reservations. However, this suspension will not affect existing bookings.

In turn, users around the world will no longer be able to make new reservations for apartments in Russia and Belarus.

Also, users of the service from these two countries will not be able to make new bookings on Airbnb anywhere in the world.

Earlier, Airbnb temporarily stopped all operations in Russia and Belarus due to the war in Ukraine.

Before that, the company promised to provide free housing for up to 100 thousand refugees from Ukraine.

On March 21, AirBnB began blocking the possibility of booking housing in Ukrainian cities in order to help Ukrainians in the war against Russia. The reason for this decision is fraudulent cases and mass creation of new ads on the platform in order to earn money from charity.
