Wirex issues its debit cards to Ukrainian displaced persons in the EU for FREE

The British fintech company Wirex, whose product combines traditional money and digital money in one application, has opened access to its cryptocurrency cards to Ukrainian migrants in the European Union.

In particular, from April 15, 2022, Ukrainians who are in European countries due to the war can use the Wirex App without restrictions, as well as issue physical cards for free, which provide an opportunity to pay for goods and services with cryptocurrencies and traditional money. Previously, this functionality of the product was available only to citizens of EU countries.

What is the use of the card?

It is known that the WireX product provides users with access to exchange digital currencies for traditional ones, withdraw cash from ATMs without Commission, and receive bonuses in wxt cryptocurrency for each online and offline purchase.

You can download the app from the App Store and Google Play Store. To apply for a Wirex payment card, just enter your current European address in the app and pass verification using your passport or ID card.

"The war forced almost 5 million Ukrainians to leave for EU countries. The company decided to support its fellow citizens by providing them with access to Wirex financial products that allow them to pay for goods and services with traditional money and cryptocurrencies, automatically converting them into US Dollars, Euros or the local currency of the region," said Ruslan Kolodyazhny, CTO and head of Wirex R&D.

At the same time, he noted that now only the cryptocurrency functionality of the company's products is available to residents of Ukraine due to regulatory features.

The Ukrainian version of the app has also been added to Wirex App. At the same time, the developers note that the language selection is automatically synchronized with the user interface language of the device.

What other new features have you added?

The fintech company listed the updated functionality of its app:

Exchange — a service that allows you to exchange any digital currency for Fiat and vice versa without additional fees;X-tras-choosing the type of subscription, which opens up new levels of opportunities for a product with an increased crypto bank (cashback in wxt cryptocurrency;X — accounts-an option that allows you to create deposits in cryptocurrency at 12% per annum in WXT (bonuses in the application are freely converted to other currencies);Send Money to Contact — the ability to send and receive funds to contacts from the phone book without additional costs;Crypto in/out transactions allows you to send or accept cryptocurrencies to your account. Having the address of their Bitcoin wallet (available in the app by default), the user will be able to receive a transfer from other people. More than 40 different cryptocurrencies are available in the program. Information about new coins is received in pop-up messages;Wirex — principal member MasterCard, so Ukrainians in Europe can order Payment Cards;cancellation of commission when withdrawing cash from ATMs.

Prior to that, only the crypto functionality of the product was available for users from Ukraine-unhindered purchase and exchange of cryptocurrencies, replenishment of accounts from Ukrainian bank cards and creation of savings X — accounts. According to the NBU resolution of 20.04.2022, replenishment of the balance is possible using payment cards issued to accounts opened in foreign currency.

Earlier, the company ceased its activities in the Russian market due to the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine.

It was also reported that Wirex opens R&D centers in Lviv and Wroclaw, Poland.

Subsequently, it became known that this fintech company directs інвестицій 7.5 million of investments to blockchain development, which will be handled by R&D centers in Ukraine and Poland.
