Growth in the number of unemployed and new company registrations. How business works in Ukraine during the war — Opendatabot analysis

Opendatabot analyzed how the situation on the economic front of Ukraine has changed since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion. In particular, changes in the labor market and in the work of domestic businesses. The online service updates this data weekly.

About the employment situation

According to the IT job search service Djinni, during the first month of the war, the number of vacancies significantly decreased, and now it is beginning to recover-although not as quickly as the number of specialists in job search. Currently, 47,284 resumes are posted on this site. But the number of vacancies is not growing so rapidly and is still significantly less than the number of people interested in the job — 15,339 offers.

In turn, on the Work.ua currently, 18,568 employee search ads have been posted. This is more than 3 times more than it was in the first weeks after the war began.

But according to the jooble job search service abroad, the number of vacancies has been gradually decreasing over the past month. Currently, the site contains 32,720 job search ads, which is 1.3 times more than in the first weeks after the war, and almost half as much as at the end of February 2022 (61,563).

According to OLX jobs, although the number of vacancies for working specialties has increased to 32,855, this is still almost half as much as in the last pre-war week. In addition, there are still three times fewer job offers than the number of respondents — as many as 99,541 of them.

About the business situation

Meanwhile, according to the service, the number of new businesses in Ukraine is steadily growing. A total of 28,442 fops and 4,584 new companies have been registered since the beginning of the war. In the first weeks of the war, the unified state register did not work — new businesses were not registered. Since the opening of the unified state register of legal entities, the number of new companies and sole proprietors has started to grow.

According to the data of the Ukrainian company for automation of establishments Poster POS, compared to the last pre-war Week, 68% of food establishments currently operate in Ukraine, which generate 70% of profits.

In turn, the number of taxi orders, according to the bond service, recovered only by a third from pre — war figures-37%.

According to Khoroshop, the number of sales of goods on online platforms has increased to 85% of pre-war figures. For comparison, in the first days of the war, sales fell as much as 7%.

Earlier, the IT Ukraine Association published a study that showed that in the first quarter of 2022, the Ukrainian IT industry showed a record increase in export revenues, while IT specialists themselves are actively involved in assistance in cyber warfare in Ukraine, donations to the army and directly on the battlefield, and representatives of the IT business have positive expectations for the further development of the industry, despite the mass relocation and war.
