Microsoft updates Policy: salary range will be public, privacy will be reduced
Microsoft announced in a blog post on June 8 that it is making four changes to the company's policy. They relate to the civil rights of employees, the publicity of salaries and working for competitors.
Microsoft has removed the non-competitive clause from the company's US policy. In other words, employees will be able to get a job with those whom Microsoft considered its competitors. However, this does not mean that they can share sensitive information. In addition, the innovation does not apply to the highest rank of management: partners and managers. Microsoft has removed privacy clauses from the US conflict resolution and release agreements. In other words, employees are now free to talk about behavior that they consider discriminatory, what they consider harassment, revenge, sexual violence, violation of fair pay or working hours. Starting in 2023, Microsoft will publicly disclose the salary range for all internal and external vacancies in the United States. Microsoft will conduct a civil rights audit. In this way, the company wants to understand whether its values correspond to US civil rights and freedoms. DetailsThe company explained the innovation by the desire to"deepen relationships with employees and improve the culture in the workplace."
DOU also asked Microsoft's Ukrainian office for comment to find out if they plan to update the policy there as well. As soon as we receive a response, we will add a comment to the material.
Earlier, DOU spoke about the experience of a Ukrainian in the American Office of Microsoft.
