MacPaw releases spybuster antispyware extension for Google Chrome
The spybuster antispyware program from the Ukrainian IT product company MacPaw is now available for the Google Chrome browser. The extension can be installed free of charge, writes Telegraf.
MacPaw's main SpyBuster was released in March of this year. However, if previously it was only available to Mac owners, now it can be installed by anyone who uses the Google Chrome browser (the minimum version of Google Chrome is 92). SpyBuster helps users protect their data. The SpyBuster extension shows where user data is sent while surfing in the Google Chrome browser, and can determine exactly which site establishes unwanted connections. And an interactive map inside the extension allows users to see where personal data is sent in real time for each individual tab. In the SpyBuster extension Menu "More Info", instructions for blocking sites in Google Chrome have been added, that is, the user independently decides whether to trust their own data to the server or not. At the same time, the SpyBuster app for Mac has the function of blocking unwanted connections or instantly deleting programs, and the extension for Google Chrome only informs about potentially dangerous connections. DetailsMacPaw engineers developed Spybuster in March 2022 in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
"The fact is that Yarovaya's law provides the FSB and other law enforcement agencies with unlimited access to any user data stored on servers located in Russia, even without a court decision," MacPaw says.
According to the Microsoft Digital Defense Report 2021, 53% of all cyber attacks come from Russia. The top three countries that account for the majority of Russian cyber attacks include the United States, Ukraine and the United Kingdom.
