SpaceX fired employees who criticized Musk in an open letter

SpaceX on June 16 fired some employees who helped write and distribute an open letter criticizing the behavior of CEO Elon Musk, writes the NYT. The letter was distributed on June 15.

On June 16, SpaceX fired some employees who are involved in creating an open letter criticizing Elon Musk. It is not known how many people were fired.

"The letter, request, and overall process caused employees to feel uncomfortable, intimidated, bullied, and/or angry. We have too much critical work to do, and there is no need for such excessive activity," wrote Gwynne Shotwell, president and Chief Operating Officer of SpaceX.

On June 15, SpaceX began distributing a letter condemning Elon Musk's activities on Twitter. In the letter, the billionaire's public behavior and tweets were called "a frequent source of distraction and embarrassment" and asked the company to restrain him. In addition, they demanded to separate SpaceX from Musk's personal brand."As our CEO and most prominent representative, Elon is considered the face of SpaceX. Each of his tweets is a de facto public statement of the company. It is extremely important to make it clear to our teams and our potential personnel reserves that their messages do not reflect our work, mission or values," the letter said. Details

The open letter comes after recent sexual harassment allegations against Musk amid his controversial acquisition of Twitter. In May, An Insider reported that a flight attendant said Musk offered her a sexy massage during a flight to London in 2016. Musk denies the charges.

The letter was signed by more than 2,600 employees. They claim that the company does not adhere to the stated "no assholes" policy and zero tolerance for sexual harassment.

One of the most high-profile news this spring in the tech market was the purchase of Twitter by billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk for Twitter 44 billion. Subsequently, it was reported that the social network may soon become paid for users of the corporate segment and government agencies. Later, Musk allegedly suspended the deal while waiting for a report on the number of bots on the network.
