Stack Overflow introduces offline access to its data
Stack Overflow, in collaboration with Kiwix, is implementing an offline repository Access feature to provide access for those who are in places with unstable or no internet connection. For example, for prisoners studying programming, for researchers at the South Pole.
"Over the years, the demand for the Stack Overflow dataset has grown. With their help, we can now offer this resource and see how it is widely used by those who write codes in situations where Internet access is practically nonexistent," says Stephane Couillet — Matijon, co-founder of Kiwix.
With this feature, students who do not have stable internet access will now be able to find information at any time.
Yannick Nkenge, an electronic technology entrepreneur and founder of EduAirBox, says: "the fact that Kiwix can distribute the Stack Overflow platform was good news for my team, as 30% of students in Cameroon attend digital courses, and this figure is growing. We plan to install Stack Overflow in all our university networks. By the end of this year, about 50,000 students will have access to Stack Overflow without an internet connection."
Stack Overflow will seek to improve the dataset so that it is accessible to more organizations and provides a more powerful resource for those learning to code or build software.
