Microsoft has released a minicomputer for developers of ARM applications for Windows
Microsoft has started selling a compact PC for.599, which is designed for developers who create applications for Windows 11 under the ARM platform. The device, formerly known as Project Volterra, was officially named Windows Dev Kit 2023.
In short, the PC is built on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx processor, has 32 gigabytes of RAM and a 512-gigabyte SSD (NVMe).It has 3 USB-A ports and 2 USB-C, Ethernet and Mini-display Ports.The main feature of the new mini-PC is a neural processor (NPU), which will allow developers to use artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms with hardware acceleration. DetailsMicrosoft offers a complete toolkit of native ARM applications for developers. Visual Studio 2022 17.4 now runs on ARM, with much better performance. The speed of .NET 7 for ARM has also been significantly improved . Developers are also offered previous ARM versions of Visual C++ and the Windows app SDK.
"More and more applications, tools, and frameworks are being ported to ARM for Native use of Windows. And even more of them will appear in the near future. Thanks to the powerful Windows 11 emulation technology, developers will be able to run many unmodified x64 and x86 applications and tools directly on the Windows Dev Kit," explains Pavan Davuluri, CVP team manager at Windows Silicon and Systems Integration.
The new mini PC is available for sale today in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States.
